UH Board of Regents Sticks With President List

The University of Hawaii Board of Regents is responding to a call from some who are advocating that it reopen its search for the next UH president beyond the two candidates being considered. In the statement, the Board says that members agreed to not return to the candidate pool because the five initially selected appeared to be significantly more aligned with the Committee's criteria than the others. It also said that members felt a renewed public effort at that late date was unlikely to garner equal or better candidates in comparison to the three who remained. The Board believes opening up the selection process would do significant damage to the university.
